We Survived the Tornados!!
frontage road!
See the roof that got paritally blown off of this house
Notice the debris in the grass...this was like 7 hours after the fact...
Excel getting the power lines put back up in the right postion!
I never thought that I would be concerned about being in a Tornado in our own little town. Well actually we were all okay. Landon had his last day of preschool today and we were suppose to do it outside. Ha ha ha. Anyway, we just thought it was rainy and cold so we decided as a preschool to go to Loveland to Jumpin. We were all just enjoying ourselves when all of the sudden it started poring rain, and then hail, and then bigger hail. Then Matt was looking on his phone at the weather and said there was a Tornado Warning over Johnstown. Everyone was like oh okay, because we never thought oh wow, we better go hide or stay inside. Then a few of the preschoolers left and the power went out. All of the inflatable bounce toys went down and we decided to wait for them to come back on. They were off for like 40 or 45 minutes and then it came back on. Brecken (my step-sister) called and told us what was going on and to make sure we were okay, then Trevor (my step-dad) called, and then my Grandma. It was nice to know that people were concerned about us. We saw on the news at that point that a Tornado had touched down in Windsor and then one in Wellington. So at that point we were the only ones at Jumpin and we were stuck there because I-25 was closed because a big semi had blown over and was all the way across it. We waited it out and bounced and watch TV and saw all of the terrible things that had happened. Windsor got hit the worst. Mandy (my step-mom) works there and I guess all the windows of her office building got blown out. So crazy. When we arrived home everything was okay at our house, except our power was out. One of the rentals we have in Wellington, some of the panels of the fence blew off. But nothing major and everyone was okay. Our hometeacher called us to make sure that we were okay and I told him we were fine, except the power outage. I guess it went off at 11:00am. We finally left our house at 8:00pm to go to my Mom's house in Berthoud because our power was still out and we figured we would take our 3 little kids to somewhere where there was power and lights and heat. I guess that the whole town of Wellington, Windsor, Johnstown, and a few other surrounding areas were all out of power and there was no estimated time for it to come back on. They said it could even be a few days! So, we had ice cream for dinner tonight becaue I couldn't let that go to waste. The kids didn't seem to mind. This is the one time that it was lucky that we didn't have hardly anything in our fridge or freezer. It is amazing how much we really depend on electricity. I am so thankful that I live in the world at this time and can enjoy such luxuries. I feel so blessed that we were all kept safe. What a crazy day it turned out to be. I am glad tha my whole family was together all day, Matt was even with us, which was a major blessing because he is usually out and about driving between all of the towns that got hit with tornados! I love my family and I am so blessed to have them in my life and so grateful for everyone who was concerned about us as they heard of the tornados in our town!
